However, Washington Made Sure To Rush Home To Mount Vernon In Time For Christmas In 1783 After Resigning From His Military Commission In Annapolis. This Was The First Time He Had Been Home In Over Eight Years, And He Made Sure To Bring Gifts For The Children Of The Family. This Special Occasion Marked A Memorable Christmas For The Washington Family, And It Goes To Show That Even In The Midst Of War And Political Turmoil, The Importance Of Family And Tradition Was Never Forgotten.
